On the last day of shooting of Rajkumar Santoshi's Ajab Prem Ki Gajab Kahani at Film City, Katrina Kaif distributed Rs 5 lakh among the unit members, including the technicians and spot boys.
A source reveals, "After wrapping up the schedule, Katrina went into her vanity van and came out with bundles of notes and started distributing them among the unit members.
She was in a happy mood and wanted to share her happiness with everyone."
Zapping Santoshi
This is the first time Katrina has acted on her instincts and has done something like this. Says an insider, "She didn't want people to advertise her little act and asked everyone not to make a big deal out of it.
While handing out the cash, she personally talked to every person and commended him on his job.
Director Santoshi was also zapped as he'd never witnessed an actor showing his/her appreciation towards a films' team in this manner."
Katrina is unavailable for comment but a friend close to her confirms the incident. "Katrina is not comfortable talking about it but yes, she did give away Rs 5 lakh to the entire unit.
It was a spontaneous gesture. She was touched by the effort and long hours (on some days, 16 hours at a stretch) that the unit had put in and this was her way of saying thanks.
Fond memories
There were 300 people in the unit and Katrina called the entire unit by their names on the last day and handed out the cash to each one personally.
"She feels there comes a time when you have worked hard in a film and retain fond memories of the film. This was one such film.
Also though stars and technicians often get credit for their work most unit people neither get appreciation nor credit. Katrina just felt it was the right thing to do and she did it."
