When to start Testing in software testing process?

Hi,

Do you know when to start testing of application?
Some body tell that to start testing when developer build application.
Some body tell that to start testing when developer build any unit or module of application.
some one say that as early as possible.
But actually as per my knowledge, it should start during requirement gathering.
We have to start software testing when we start requirement gathering of system

Why to start software testing during requirement gathering?

Reason for that is if you start testing during requirement gathering then you can decrease the possibility of bug before system or unit development.

Then again one question How?
if you have referred requirement document then you can find many points which are actually not required in system or not useful in system. because client don't think about all points when he provide his requirement. you can find missing, incomplete or very requirement in Software requirement specification document.
If you have found all these defects during requirement it is positive. because you have prevented system from bug/defect.
one thing more that in SDLC's different phases, requirement gathering is first phase.
In SDLC, if any bug/defect found during system testing, integration testing or acceptance testing are more cost affective then bug/defect found during requirement gathering phase.
so this is reason of why to start testing during requirement gathering.

There are many types of testing performed during software testing life cycle.
Like
1. Unit testing.
2. Integration testing
3. System testing
4. System integration testing
5. Acceptance testing

Unit testing is one type of software testing.

Definition of Unit testing

Primary goal of unit testing is to test a smallest testable piece of system is called unit testing.
In STLC(Software testing life cycle) unit testing is performed before all types of testing described above.
Basically unit testing is performed by system developer. not by the system testing engineer.
When developer start to develop system, first of all he develop a unit of system one by one.
Then he have to test that unit or smallest piece developed by him is working fine as per requirement or not.
So unit testing is basic task of system.

What is software testing?

Hi friends,

From now i will post for software testing.
Today's my topic is about my own career.
I am software testing engineer and doing job in one multinational company.
I have an experience of more then 3 years in this field.
So from now i want to share some knowledge about software testing with you.
Do you have any knowledge about software testing?
Software testing is activity of testing the new developed software application.

Major task of software testers are as bellow.

1. Software have to check that new developed application is work as per client requirement or not.
2. He have to test software for decrease application risk, business risk, money risk etc.
3. He check that is there any bug in software application or not.
4. His aim is to find as many bugs as possible. However there is not any application in the world which is bug free. but have to check every possibility for ind bug. here bug means issue or error or client requirement missing.
5. He have to check each and every functionality of application.
6. He have to perform unit testing, Integration testing, System testing and if there are many systems in one application then have to perform system integration testing.

Will describe everything of software testing process in latter.
